671922 2008-05-23 11:46:00 Does anyone have any opinion on this plan?

On the service provided by XNet?

I'm getting sick of the connection dropouts I'm getting from my Woosh Wireless modem at home - bizarre, the aerial has been where it's always been, yet the last couple of months I lose connection for no apparent reason (doesn't seem to be the weather or the time of day - just random) at odd times .

Asked Woosh to 'do me a deal' on a wired connection at home, including phone, and retain the existing wireless account for my laptop (needed for work at client sites) - perhaps with a shared data cap between the two . Apparently it's just too hard!!!

So it would be full price for the wireless ($54 . 95 a month for 20GB) and another $79 . 95 for the cheapest full speed wired connection .

$135 a month smacks of profiteering to me, even taking into account the getting rid of the Telecom landline and 'saving' $40 a month!

I would have thought that since they're in the business of selling a service, they would be able to bundle some kind of deal . Looks to me like they've lost the plot - I used to get great customer service from Woosh .

(pctek's going to read this and say "I told you so!" :D )

671923 2008-05-23 12:58:00 Switch to Fusion, voice calls dont count towards your bandwidth usage and for <$20 you can transfer your number and use it with your Fusion account (I did it with my Woosh number, but to my VFX instead of a Fusion). Chilling_Silence (9)
671924 2008-05-23 16:24:00 Oh I had a friend's friend who had woosh. She really regretted not listening to my other friend who I informed about Woosh connection being bad.

Im on fusion too and just joined the Torrent plan so i get 75GB free per month during the hours of 12-8am .maybe consider this plan?

671925 2008-05-23 20:58:00 All xnet connections are bad due to Telecom upgrades apparently.... they been going on forever... rob_on_guitar (4196)
671926 2008-05-23 21:18:00 What's your definition of bad, Rob? Dropped connections? Low speed? And wouldn't this be the same issue for all ISPs using Telecom's backbone?

And do you speak from personal experience with Xnet, or just from what you have heard?

671927 2008-05-23 21:35:00 Yeah tell more Rob ;)

I'm also considering the Fusion thing.

All of the above and confirmed by Xnet on the phone.
By bad I mean connection dropping off and random times, sometimes just for a second or two, sometimes for minutes....highly annoying, and yes it supose to have affected other ISPs too.

(The reasons I want to get off Xtra and Telecom is cos of the waste of money I pay each month for the landline, and for a better upload speed. Otherwise I'd be happy to stay with Xtra)

671930 2008-05-23 23:10:00 Yea, I hate how they can affect other businesses. It also throws alot of ... dont know the word, like even though they say its telecoms fault, the damage is done. rob_on_guitar (4196)

You are still going to need a landline and someone has to pay for it.
Maybe not as much as you do now but nothing comes free.
