673182 2008-05-27 22:14:00 Trains are more useful than a machine looking to see if maybe there was once life on Mars. pctek (84)
673183 2008-05-27 22:17:00 Id perfer the mars thing... rob_on_guitar (4196)
673184 2008-05-27 22:19:00 It's all a plot. R2x1 (4628)
673185 2008-05-27 22:32:00 Trains are only useful if there are enough of them, if there are enough tracks in useable condition (that go to the required destinations), if there are incentives in place to get the freight off the roads....

However the point of the cartoon as I see it is: "bang for buck", investing in the future, and worldview focus.

I wonder if Nasa could do rocket trains for us at a cheaper price than Cullen's 'investment' in rail....????

673186 2008-05-27 23:02:00 "bang for buck" - or creative accounting? Some of the parts used by NASA including the lander itself were reused from previously cancelled missions. PaulD (232)
673187 2008-05-27 23:46:00 Even the Space Program recycles!!!! johcar (6283)
673188 2008-05-28 08:41:00 Ye-es? and our trains really look like that? I don't think so....

Forget mars, people need to sort themselves out on this planet first

673189 2008-05-28 10:40:00 It's actually $525 million.

And if the NASA one is in US dollars, then so should the NZ one.
