672242 2008-05-24 21:07:00 Seems to me that sometimes the MODS are sleeping when the rest of the world is awake and spamming and generally messing with F1 .

Not that I want to deny anyone of sleep . . . but it would be nice if WE (read: peons who are NOT asleep and are NOT living in Upsidedown Land) could use the Spammer post to insert the URLs of the spam that appears here whilst thou art sleeping .

The list could get quite long and it would be fun to make it longer and longer . I have a ready supply of addresses to add if you agree that it's a good idea .

Anywho . . . locking that thread is OK . . but if we want to add some, we can't . . . and I'd like to hurt them in their bandwidth if I can help a little too .

Would that be a problem? :nerd:

Yeah but have you thought how you are doing the spammers a favour by posting their URLs and emails here along with what they are trying to sell, and this actually defeats the purpose of deleting spam from this forum?

You know how google loves us, so once those lines get indexed ... :stare:

672249 2008-05-25 06:17:00 Jen... why not simply delete the lot right now. Joe has a copy - if anyone wants them they can PM him. Scouse (83)

I think these free email providers like gmail and hotmail have to take a lot of the resposibility on the amount of spam sent, as do ISPs who allow you to send out email via their SMTP servers, without authenticating that the reply email address is authentic. At least Xtra / Yahoos system are now doing something about this, as you now have to authenticate that your domain based email address is yours, but many other ISPs still allow open SMTP usage.

672251 2008-05-25 06:25:00 Jen... why not simply delete the lot right now. Hope Joe doesn't mind, but I will just remove the advert subject headings. The email addresses can stay to feed the hungry spambots. :p Jen (38)
