805677 2009-08-31 09:26:00 Yeah - take the RAM out, blow out any dust, even if it looks clean, put the RAM back in, and see if it fires up with onboard graphics.

If it does, turn the PC off, put the New card back in, see what happens.

Sometimes, just "fliddling" with the board, can cause other components to move / lose contact slightly.

805678 2009-08-31 09:29:00 have taken out the battery, put it back, pc rebooted normal! Now...how about this card....stuffed?? mark1978 (13845)
805679 2009-08-31 09:31:00 we did not take out the ram when installing the card, should I take it out and put it in another slot?? i am reading online also about a fault in the 64 k ram, would it be a good idea to take out the battery and then reinstall it again??

What I think we want first is to get the PC to post. Taking out the battery should reset the CMOS or there may be a jumper you can use instead. Take out the new card if you have it in and connect the monitor to the onboard. I take it that you used the normal anti static precautions while exploring the innards?

I would not bother removing the RAM yet but if the first bit does not do it then try that or even remove it altogether in which case you will get a different set of beeps.

You have a crash free bios so that may help as well.

Give it another shot to see what happens, if it still plays up think about RMA'ing it

The card may or may not be faulty. Also now you have reset the BIOS you may need to go into it to change boot order etc to your normal preferences. While in there have a look for which card initialises first.

805682 2009-08-31 09:43:00 Umm if this is related to the other thread you posted (which says you have a E5300 CPU), is the BIOS on it 0310? Because according to the ASUS site, this is the BIOS you need for a E5300 to work (the original BIOS is 0307)

And the latest BIOS is 0406

805683 2009-08-31 09:44:00 Make sure theres no dust build up in the PCI-E slot as well - its amazing how much crap those slots can get in them when open ( not in use) wainuitech (129)
805684 2009-08-31 09:57:00 SO! Thanks GOD!! everything is working again, except for the video card, we have got a feeling its stuffed! Once everything was running again we tried it ONE more time, but.. again, no post... 3 beeps and no display on the screen.

There are some settings in the bios that you can change but we do not feel comfortable messing with it.

There is hardly any dust in the machine, its a week old! lol

And yes we have take precaution re: building the card in..

805685 2009-08-31 10:22:00 The beeps we mentioned, we think they are a part of the start-up procedure... cozzz, the pc is operating normal again and when it starts up we hear these faint beeps but according to the boot sequence everything is normal. mark1978 (13845)
805686 2009-08-31 10:40:00 Umm I know with certain ASUS mobos, for every USB device thats plugged in, it used to beep as well. Dont know whether this applies to your mobo tho. Speedy Gonzales (78)
