Xnet just released a new type of plan, where it allows users to download up to 75GB a month during Midnight to 8am.

What do you guys think? Comments?

Personally I found this a bit fishy....isnt this some what encouraging P2P users and torrents? Seems like they are just pooling all heavy users...then u know...easier to catch... . Well thats just what I think.

Apart from that, I reckon this is a great plan :P

673673 2008-05-29 09:20:00 It's not a pooling thing, it's a levelling thing. The incentive is to make the heavy users move to an unpopular timeslot - the incentive to do this is the 'free' 75GB of data. If you don't like the plan, there's nothing stopping you keeping your existing one, they're not forcing you to move. Erayd (23)

Yeah, i dont mean pooling by the usual pooling like what xtra do to their customer, though I presume xnet would do the same with these users (obviously I hope i'm wrong on this).

However what I meant was pooling as in grouping their in the database.

Im still on the old plan, so they ARE forcing me to move on, they will be shutting down the old xtreme and alike plans at the end of next month :crying

What Im worried about is that the speed during that period will end up being damn slow after a x amount of users. I mean you dont have to be awake during that time, just schedule a download with your favorite download manager and your set for the night if not for the whole week or month and multiple that with the amount of heavy downloaders...hoho Very tempting to join :p

Pick two.

673676 2008-05-29 11:11:00 I don't think they're trying to "catch" anyone.

Torrents can be used for legal purposes too you know. Its just to ease the load at peak times.

673677 2008-05-29 11:27:00 What you forgot to mention is during the day it costs $1.50/GB instead of the normal $1/GB. Also there is no plan yet to cap your use during the day.

Also it appears it has already been leeched to death. Reports on GP of any use after 12AM is a nightmare for quite a few.
