672566 2008-05-26 01:52:00 What sounds right?
as I have been looking at getting a genealogical book published by an ancestor of mine the book's about $12 -15 USD but shipping is about $26 USD

This is the Book (books.google.com), it's been scanned in to Google books, however only snippets are available with is a bit strange as the book was published 124 years ago, it has recently been reproduced for the genealogical market but I am kind of suprised it isn't out of copyright

Didn't think of that, but i sincerly doubt it as it is one of those obscure texts that is really only of interest to those mentioned within its pages or there descendants of course

672570 2008-05-26 04:26:00 I was going to buy a CD from a Swedish record label, but the 20 euros shipping cost put me off. So there are definitely companies out there that charge like that. the_bogan (9949)

Why don't you choose a cheaper shipping price, like US $16 or UK 7 pounds.
It will take longer of course.

$16.28 NZ for book, and $21.60 for P & P. Barring a special offer from Ferrit, Abebooks has been cheaper for every book I've looked at, even after P & P...

672573 2008-05-27 20:38:00 Long time ago I ordered a few books from the USA and I picked the 3-week shipping (yeah, real shipping) as the option and it was frickin cheap - can't remember how cheap, but worth it.
