672543 2008-05-26 00:10:00 Hi, I'm new to PressF1 forum.

Not sure if it is relevant to post it here, but I wanna hear people's opinion about LCD TV's.

I'm about to buy 32" LCD TV and have been searching the net for the best option.

I have decided to go with Samsung Bordeaux Plus R81 32" LCD TV(Model LA32R81BX) selling at $1095 on Trademe.

Does anybody here have better LCD TV to suggest?

My main usage for TV is a watching DVD and playing PS2(possibly PS3 later on). I also intend to connect my PC to use it for games and movies.

Any opinions welcomed.

Kev.

Recommend Sony over Samsung, but in saying that theres nothing wrong with Samsung.

If you are wanting to use it with PS3 later on, and with everything heading the way of HD, I'd definitely recommend spending a bit extra and getting a TV with at least 1080i capability, and enough hdmi ports.

672545 2008-05-26 01:15:00 According to the Technology TV series Beyond Tomorrow LG leads the world in Television.

I personally would be buying Sony or Panasonic but that is just me.
With NZ finally embracing High Definition Television broadcast I too would be looking at a good HDTV since I do not want to have to buy another in a couple of years time.

672548 2008-05-26 02:01:00 I have had a Samsung LA32S81BX 32" LCD TV for about 2 months and I just love it!
DVDs are great on it and it has a nice black shiney base and surround.
It is HD ready and has 3 spare ports, not sure what they are for. HDMI? I have Sky connected to it as well.

672551 2008-05-26 06:11:00 Thats a pretty decent price for the 32 R81, it's a good TV too. The picture out of that is amazing, no matter what the source. I have seen that model going through a Bluray movie out of a Sony PS3 and it was very good. It obviously didn't display the video at its full resolution, but because it's a relatively small panel anyway, there was not much major difference between the picture out of that and the 40" variant (I think it was the N series one, can't remember now) running with 1080p resolution.

If you didn't mind, you could even wait about a month for the new Sony Bravia range. From what we have heard, they should be pretty sweet albeit, they will still cost a lot more than the R81, couldn't confirm if more than just the X will have 1080p but apparently they're all supposed to get digital tuners built in.

If you're after a <=32" then that is the one, especially if you can fetch it at $1095 - just make sure that it comes with all the standard stuff like warranty and the place you get it from is selling it new etc, since theres only $200 difference between that and getting a brand new one as wratterus linked.

Kev .

I guess you are not married Kev, because if you were, you would realise that there are only four viable answers to that question:

1) The one your wife says you can buy, if . . . . . . . . . . . .

or

2) The one your wife says is "nice looking,"

or

3) The one your wife says you can afford,

or

4) The one your wife says you can buy because it is bigger, better, or more expensive than the one that snooty woman from across the road was bragging about last week at the Kindy Parents' meeting .

Cheers
