2009-08-30 12:17:00 I have a PC connected to an OpenNetworks 824RLW modem via cable and a wireless laptop which connects to the modem. They are all in the same network range and I can access shared files on the PC from my laptop. But I cannot access the laptop from my PC. I can ping the laptop from the PC (and vice versa) but see only the PC (not the laptop) in the Workgroup. Firewall is disabled at both ends. I can access internet ok on both laptop and PC. I have run the network setup wizard numerous times. Anyone help? bpt2 (6653)
2009-08-30 12:19:00 Are both running XP? Blam (54)
2009-08-30 12:20:00 Dont use the wizard, its hopeless. What version of windows are we talking about? What error message are you getting, if it cant access the laptop? Have you created and shared a folder? Speedy Gonzales (78)
2009-08-30 12:27:00 Thanks for those prompt responses. I just got a message re server services which was set to manual. I started that on the laptop and now it appears in the workgroup. I'm using XP Pro at both ends. May I've solved my problem? bpt2 (6653)
2009-08-30 12:34:00 Put that service on automatic. Did you disable any services on either of these? Speedy Gonzales (78)
2009-08-30 12:45:00 I don't recall disabling any services but I know where to check now. bpt2 (6653)
