Weather for Christchurch, NZ

39°F/3 . 89ºC
Cloudy (but in Britain, that would be "Sunny Day")
Wind: N at 7 mph/12 kph (I think N is S in Upsidedown Land though)
Humidity: 100%/xx% (is there a metric equiv? I can't find it)

675135 2008-06-02 23:51:00 Thats pretty normal - maybe the humidity would be a bit high.

May temps for NZ were the coldest for a long time - average temps of about not much.

If I find the stats I'll give you a link - can't remember where I saw it.

675136 2008-06-03 00:02:00 Joe: Christchurch has a very hot and, usually fairly dry, summer, but if you have any sense, you move to warmer climes in the winter .

Their summers are worth a visit, but I have experienced beautifully clear winter days that even brass monkeys avoid! There is a fairly small hill called "The Port Hills" which is occasionally dusted with snow . It only requires a slight breeze blowing in your direction to send the brass monkeys scattering!

The natives will tell you it's "bracing . " Foreigners call it bloody freezing!

There are many days in a Christchurch winter day where the thermometer just seems to be stuck! I have heard it said that the thermometer freezes which may explain why it just refuses to rise .

Christchurch has it's famous nor-wester . It's a wind that blows across the plains and by the time it reaches Christchurch there is no moisture left but it has picked up plenty of warmth . Lovely weather for the tourists, but notice how they stay away as winter approaches .

I would suggest looking at the temperatures for Kaitaia, which is near the top of the North Island . It will make you feel much warmer . The natives there, fire up when the temperature drops below 15C .

There are places in NZ where they have not heard of global warming . The Christchurch natives have their brains numbed by the cold at this time of year so they may not be aware .

675137 2008-06-03 00:45:00 Geez. Sorry for youse guys..we are getting closer to Summer here right now. SurferJoe46 (51)
675138 2008-06-03 00:47:00 I'd rather be cold than hot any day. It's always easier to rug up than it is to cool yourself down when its 30+ deg in the summer. Any you get to ski! She's all good! ;) wratterus (105)
