675094	2008-06-02 22:50:00	Whilst tidying up my bookmarks over the weekend I came across the one to this site which I joined a couple of years ago and visited only once or twice afterwards. It was with surprise that I discovered that my user name and password still worked despite not having made any posts. Why does this forum not cull dormant accounts with no or very few posts, eg less than 10? Many other forums do. Apart from perhaps saving server space it frees up user names that someone else may wish to use but are tied up by someone like me who only visited once or twice and posted nothing. It wouldnt have bothered me if my account had been deleted and user name taken by someone else. I would just have created another.	smokey (13809)

675099	2008-06-04 03:11:00	Surely from a business point of view it is good to have lots of accounts, dormant or not - that way they can claim that "our forum has _X_ members" when negotiating advertising contracts and so on.	somebody (208)
675100	2008-06-04 03:26:00	sorry I didn't see this until now, have been away for a bit. We don't really advertise our member numbers for advertising, i know we've used the number of posts though. I think it just comes down to the usefulness of culling accounts, apart from perhaps the name thing. I'll have a look into it, but I'm wary of deleting people's accounts just because they don't post, we have some members that haven't posted since they signed up years ago, yet still visit the forum today. 675101	2008-06-04 04:58:00	I'm wary of deleting people's accounts just because they don't post, we have some members that haven't posted since they signed up years ago, yet still visit the forum today . maybe I wasnt very clear . its the inactive, unused accounts that I was referring to, not the ones who still visit the forum . there are plenty who signed up years ago, visited once or twice and havent returned since . it was just a thought anyway . I was going to sign up with a new name but the alternative user name is taken by an inactive member .	smokey (13809)
