2008-06-01 11:30:00 | I've recorded it and the following panel discussion. I won't comment until I've watched both. Martynz

2008-06-01 12:19:00 | hmm two comments. Anyone notice that the "Pro climate warming" camp was much more vocal - read: argumentative than the "no climate warming" camp who would sit respectively while the others put their case across. Second - the temperature figures on the second graph - it started round 800 ad - ummmm, where did those figures come from, who was taking the temps then?? And if they were modelled ( e.g. "estimated" on a computer) why did they stop modelling and use real figures.

2008-06-01 21:28:00 | Most of the temperatures from ages ago are done by taking core samples and things like that. While I don't disagree that people are bad for the ecology, I don't agree that warming trends are entirely our own fault either. I guess I'm kind of in the middle. But there is a lot of money to be made from the new "the sky is falling" scenario. I could list a lot load of things we were/are supposed to be panicking about. Most people/companies are just out to get what they can out of it, very few actually care about the current environment. As for "saving the planet" though, its just likely our living conditions could change so that we can no longer survive, nothing new there, happens to species all the time. The planet will continue on without us and produce some new lifeforms.

2008-06-01 21:47:00 | There's an interesting book by Michael Crichton called A State of Fear - that while the story is fiction, he has some speeches in the back which he is serious....basically saying the ecology movement only started after the cold war ended because the governments needed something else to keep the public scared. | psycik (12851) | |

2008-06-01 23:14:00 | I enjoyed the documentary. The panel discussion got a bit argumentative. Whilst I am a bit of a man made climate change skeptic... Some bad things are happening, Glaciers retreating in NZ, no snow on Mt Kilimanajro, not much snow in Tibet, shrinking Arctic ice cap. Can or should we try to do something about these things. I personally can't wait for a bit more warming in my house in winter.
