674702 2008-06-01 13:03:00 Metla, I have a solution for you:

addons.mozilla.org

I know its retarded to use an add-on for this but FF3 is worth it.

And don't forget change browser.urlbar.matchOnlyTyped to true in the about:config

Close and reboot. Back to V2 style

674703 2008-06-01 13:17:00 Annoyed was my first reaction to the awesome bar too but after a session or two it came to work quite well despite the visual awesome-ness. This seems to be the same old story actually.

Visual awesomeness still too much? browser.urlbar.maxRichResults in about:config set to 0 should fix that up for you. I've enjoyed the last few betas so am switching to Fx3 with mild hesitation (add-ons support, I know I can get around this but would prefer add-on authors to update and confirm support the proper way).

Otherwise, Firefox 3 does not suck.

674704 2008-06-01 21:29:00 Opera is very good. The Paste and Go feature is tops.

Try it Metla. Your soldering iron will stay put.

674705 2008-06-01 22:23:00 I have been using FF3 for about 2 weeks now and will not go back to FF2 I love it the address bar is great, its tidy my only gripe my add ons don't work yet. I know I could force them but I'm waiting for the authors to update them. gary67 (56)

674707 2008-06-02 00:32:00 I tried FF3, but AdBlock was unavailable, so out went FF3 pdq.
Opera has it's moments, but for me they are not totally joyful ones.

Ad-Block definitely works. I'm running the nightly build for RC1 and its the first add-on that always gets installed.

Just ask it to look for updates or manually install it again.

674710 2008-06-02 06:54:00 I can confirm that both AdBlock Plus (adblockplus.org) and Firebug (beta, works fine) (www.getfirebug.com) are currently compatible with Firefox 3rc1. I'm happy 90% of the ones I use daily are compatible, I try to keep installed extensions to a minimum.
