I can attest to Mepis - it's been very good for me (learning), and now almost 3 years later I package for their repositories. KDE 3.5.10 atm, but next version will be 4.3.1. If you have any issues - you'll get good advice on their forums as well. Worth a shot if you really want Linux working and haven't tried either yet. |

If you want Fedora try it with Gnome, if you want OpenSuse try it with KDE. Both are great IMO. OpenSuse will be slightly easier, methinks. They both have an excellent support community on the forums. |

I want to try Open, and I saw KDE once I think in Ubuntu or Kubuntu - can't remember. Added info: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500 |

| 806964 | 2009-09-06 05:52:00 | Sweep, you do realise that there are many free compilers for Windows as well? Which language[s] are you writing in? | Erayd (23) | ||

See if you enjoy it - if you do install it. If not try another flavor. |
