2009-09-03 16:11:00 | oh #5, I just connected my video card via HDMI cable to plasma screen. The cable alone was (mid range) $250 for 2.4m. Top price I seen for a HDMI cable was $450 for 1m. Also realise that if you run HDMI (which you must do for picture quality) will not supply sound. i.e. you will need to run a seperate sound cable as the HDMI will run from your video card which will not do sound. Do not go cheap and try VGA to a big screen, it sucks, I even tried DVi to VGA, bad, bad, bad...HDMI and seperate sound | toonttm (14853) | |

2009-09-03 20:56:00 | Priced up a 3m cable, $32:thumbs: What the hell do people think is happening in cheap cables?, do they believe the data is floating off into thin air between connections?, What s a network cable worth?, $2 per metre?, what's the bandwidth?

2009-09-03 20:56:00 | I was gonna say.. The most I've spent on a hdmi cable is $40.. They had on a sale in noel leeming a while ago, so I got a few. Full price was $60 if my memory serves me well | Phil B (648) | |
2009-09-06 20:23:00 | There is an electronics shop here which sells 10 metre HDMI cable for $199. | Tony S. (450) | |
2009-09-06 21:14:00 | And as fa as ram goes, 3Gb is all vista can address so don't get sold a dummy (like I did) with an offer of extra ram. 4GB is the total addressable memory space (note, this is NOT the same as RAM but includes RAM, usable RAM is usually 3 - 3.5gb) by any 32-bit version of Windows (and other OSes - PAE excluded). 64-bit versions of XP, Vista, 7 etc can all address more.

2009-09-14 10:01:00 | Bugger, Video card appears to be faulty, Can get 1.5 days out of her then the screen either gets an out of range error or red and green vertical lines, a hard reset and she boots fine but the screen is blank (presumably the card is sending it gibberish so its safety circuit has stepped in) Leave her off for a couple of hours and she seems alright for another day or so.... Card had a funny smell to it when I received it, Noticed it as soon as I opened the package, But initially it seemed to run fine.I'm thinking it may have been baked. Anyway, 7900GS back in the PC, and one ATI 4830 about to go in the bin.
