675111 2008-06-02 23:10:00 I swear that it tastes different from tea made with boiled water in a pot.

My fav is Earl Grey and English Breakfast....and for an American that's a big revelation.

Sorry to say I like it hot, sweet and white...milk, sugar and steeped in a preheated pot...from loose tea, of course!

Got any thoughts on the "microwaved v boiled water" idea? Just my imagination or what?

We drink lots of iced tea too.

675112 2008-06-02 23:19:00 I end up having nuked coffee - whenever I make a coffee I get sidetracked for a half hour, and the coffee ends up getting cold. This has been known to happen several times in a row.

If theres nothing happening, make a move to make a hot drink, and she's all on! :p

Can't say I drink tea enough to know....

Can't say I drink tea enough to know . . . .

Can't say fer sure that I want to know who or what "she" is in your reply, or what "on" means in Upsidedown Land . . here it has a special connotation though . . . . . .

I DO know that nuked coffee tastes like burnt rubber . It somehow changes the flavor . . and not for the better either!

When I used to work . . . ahem! . . . I would take a huge coffee mug to work . . prolly a full Liter to youse guys, and it had milk in it . . no sugar as I am sweet enuff . . . and I'd nurse it all day long .

After about high noon the milk would curdle . . and for some loony reason I liked it that way . . . room-temp and curdled milk . I'd finish the last lumpy dregs about time to go home .

Yum!

One time, my wife sent a nice big 1/2 gallon of coffee to work with me (about 2 Liters, I think) and all day long I couldn't get my head off the desk . I was feeling so-o-o sick, that by the time I got home I was ready to sleep without a shower or even taking off my work duds .

She cheerfully asked me "What did you think of that new coffee I got you?"

I told her that I was feeling sick . . and she said that was strange . . . the coffee could not have done that . It was DECAF!

I wouldda liked to throttle her if I had the energy to do so .

What is the point of drinking decaf coffee? Geez!

 You have much to learn about our culture Joe, much to learn. :p

as in

she'll be right it'll be OK
She's all on It's all on

675117 2008-06-03 08:27:00 I'll microwave it if it gets lukewarm and I'm feeling too lazy to make another or wait for the new one to become drinkable.

This is weird I know, but I'll sometimes nuke it when making it after pouring it from those boiler things we have- they might say boiling water, but I swear the tea it makes cools quicker than from a conventional kettle...

I have been thinking that for some time. I don't heat from cold in the microwave, but do reheat... and am sure it only stays hot for a much shorter period ! :illogical

Methinks this is to do with the difference between heat and temperature.

675120 2008-06-03 10:47:00 Microwaved tea's gotta be better than a microwaved ostrich egg (www.youtube.com)
or a microwaved cellphone (www.todaysbigthing.com).
