675792 2008-06-05 04:45:00 After a recent update this will find the nasties, but not deal to them without registering. Driftwood (5551)
675793 2008-06-05 04:51:00 Uninstalling now... :crying

WAS a good app though. Found a few nasties in many a client's PC.

EDIT: version 5.5 just came out - probably part of the upgrade.

675795 2008-06-05 04:59:00 Super Anti Spyware & Avast Home still seem to ok Driftwood (5551)
675796 2008-06-05 06:54:00 It's all Wainuitech's fault. Cicero (40)
675797 2008-06-05 08:14:00 Is it a 'ahem' legit version you're using?? The downloadable demo finds, but has never removed spyware, and the Starter Edition finds and removes nasties.

If you're using a pirated copy of the full Spyware Doctor, and happen to update the .exe file, then it will stop working!! ;)

675798 2008-06-05 08:53:00 It's all Wainuitech's fault.Hey dont blame me  , I'm not the one who decided to stop the free - be.

Any way its not that expensive if you want to keep using it - Just worked it out, with todays exchange rate, I think its in Euros, and has a 3 user licence, so get 2 mates and split the cost , its around $20.00 NZ.

Edited / Added - OH Ye of Little faith :crying I had the same thing happen on one of my Vista PC's, the auto update of spyware doctor ran, and the previous free one suddenly became the Paid version.

SO as an experiment, I went to my own sig, redownloaded the latest Starter Edition 5.5, removed the currently installed version (not updated) rebooted and installed - A fresh copy (www.imagef1.net.nz) - works fine, ran the update, brought the definitions to the ones highlighted in that Pic, Did a Scan (www.imagef1.net.nz) then Removed what it found (www.imagef1.net.nz)

NOW heres the catch - IF you update the old version the version goes to a higher version, AND you more than likely wont be able to reinstall the free version SO I suspect that the "new Free version" has a different set of definitions / Version number - no doubt it will catch up sooner or later, BUT in the mean time if you have not updated the files, remove your current version, redownload and install. - still works :banana

675799 2008-06-05 09:24:00 Certainly seems to be working for me,auto updates and all! Cicero (40)
675800 2008-06-06 11:41:00 Went to uninstall the involuntarily upgraded version and up pops this little window saying how sorry they were to lose me and if I would like the latest free Starter Edition, click here. I dumped the old one, downloaded the new one and updated the definitions and all's well... until next time! Blue Druid (4480)
