| 808195 | 2009-09-09 05:28:00 | iforce.co.nz (www.iforce.co.nz) Can i overclock my CPU to higher than 4.0? CPU is a Xeon E3110,same specs as a E8400. Motherboard is ASUS P5Q SE2 RAM is generic DSE 2gb 800 in dual channel. I have tried raising the CPU FSB to 450, max CPU 1.3V. But my PC wouldn't boot and had to clear CMOS. I think my RAM is holding me back. |

And there is no set overclock for anything, the theoritical overclock on something is well past what it will actually do. Do you have an unlocked multiplier? if so then try lowering that and see how far the fsb will go. If your after 4ghz then try whatever fsb will give you that but with lower multiplier. If that works then raise multiplier and give cpu more volts |
