808009 2009-09-08 05:36:00 I am going to try and use either Outlook or Outlook Express to send and receive my Xtra.co.nz mail.
Can anyone direct me to a site that has all the correct settings required ie. servers, smtp settings port numbers(if required)

Is outlook different from outlook express and if so, which is the better option?

I will also want to move my hotmail account over as well.
Thanks in advance:)

808010 2009-09-08 05:44:00 The only program you can download hotmail into is Windows Live Mail, that can be downloaded as part of the Windows Live Essentials package for free if you wish. The only real difference between Outlook and Outlook Express for the average home user is Outlook has a calendar, where Outlook Express does not. There's a whole lot more to it than that, but in a standalone home environment that's normally the only thing that makes a difference to your decision.

Xtra settings are as follows - there are a few variations but these are the best to use as long as it all works, all port settings are defaults. If you are unsure what your password is, try and log in at webmail.xtra.co.nz and see if it works there, if not you'll need to contact Xtra and reset your password, 0800 22 55 98.

pop3 server: pop3.xtra.co.nz
smtp server smtp.xtra.co.nz

Username is the bit of your email address without the @xtra.co.nz at the end, and password is whatever your password is, you should know that.

808012 2009-09-08 08:45:00 It is possible to get Outlook working with Hotmail using the connector app:
office.microsoft.com

I reckon you shouldn't even bother with OE. Outlook is much, much more powerful and much better than that crap OE interface too:p
