807693 2009-09-07 10:17:00 Would my main PC that isn't hooked to the internet require virus protection? convair (13650)
807694 2009-09-07 10:30:00 Probably not, but is it networked to a PC on the net?? I would still update it somehow Speedy Gonzales (78)
807695 2009-09-07 10:32:00 If you want to connect various data carriers, such as USB sticks, MP3 Players, Memory cards, etc. that comes from a computer with the internet, it is a very wise idea to install it. We never had the internet till a short time ago, but all three of our computers had AVG Free installed, as an added protective layer.

You don't have to buy anti-virus programs if you are tight on budget, because some companies offer free versions of their software, eg. AVG Free, and all that they limit is some features, like real-time scanner, etc., but AVG Free gives you almost everything for free.

AVG is a bit of a memory hog, so you might want to search your options available first.

Yes unless you are the only person that has access to the main computer or network.

807699 2009-09-07 10:54:00 It is still a good idea to use it, even if you update it every month, by downloading the files to file, and using a flash drive or other portable media to move it to the isolated pc raydan42 (13837)
807700 2009-09-07 10:54:00 It'll be pretty pointless having an anti virus that you can't regularly update whellington (15030)

OK. But you do say Main PC which is what you are posting from?
At least one computer you use can access the internet.

Not quite, it'll still remove *some* malware from flash drives etc based on heuristics, it just won't be able to remove newer viruses.
