| 807485 | 2009-09-07 02:11:00 | Hi Guys For years I have always bought and used Lite On Litescribe DVD drives. However I have several of them that still work, but the drive door does not open every time when you press the button. You have to insert a pin into the reject hole. This is a pain. As it has happened to a few of my drives I am thinking about trying another brand. Any suggestions ? They say the drives are rated for 1000 uses. I would have done a lot but not that many ! Kind regards Digby |

| 807490 | 2009-09-07 03:47:00 | I tried two HP lightscribe drives and both died real quickly. Currently use two Asus drives. One I have had for around three years. Has not given me any problems. Other drives I have put in other PCs have also been Asus and I don't get called about failing hardware. |

| 807493 | 2009-09-07 04:04:00 | Asus seem to be very good in the area of the doors not jamming. Never seen an Asus DVDRW with a jammed door yet. I've got LiteOn drives and never had any issues, but the doors do seem to jam up more on the LiteOn drives than some other brands, especially Asus and Pioneer. LG seem to make nice drives, don't know who actually makes them, sold heaps this year and had no issues yet, although 8 months isn't really a decent length of time to test anything. |

Both of these are LG Somewhat OT, but you can't go past this (www.computerlounge.co.nz) if you wanted a Blu-ray drive for watching movies etc. Only problem is it reads, but doesn't write :p Hell of a good deal considering it includes PowerDVD 8 HD too  Will be getting one for my HTPC |
