In that case I take my comment back. The network connection should be thrown out the window.

I never did end up performing that physics experiment...
For some reason my router suddenly started behaving itself. Can't think why.

676133 2008-06-07 04:37:00 Calm down folks. Nothing wrong with the server, they added a new script to the forum to help keep down the :spam.

You were all given a 5~20 hour ban for spamming (depending on the 'n00b value' of your posts) and flooding the main server by refreshing the Chat/PF1 indexes every second, etc.

I was of course on here all along, browsing my way through millions of pages while you suckers :crying'd

676134 2008-06-07 05:04:00 The forum is leading by example on how to save power by turning the servers off for so many hours per day. :p Jen (38)
676135 2008-06-07 05:10:00 I was last here at about 8:30am last night, but when I just came on it says I was last here at 2:29pm today. I must have a ghost as I think I was soundly in bed asleep at that time.

Maybe these companies who provide the network in AUckland do a lot of their maintenance in the weekend, as that is when it seems to be going down. Anyway they should really be hosting it in a professional datacentre, if they want reliability. I have been using geekzone more recently becuase of the outages and slow connection of pressf1, although I don't like their forum system as much, as the 'back' button doesn't seem to work properly in opera, and you are automatically subscribed to a post by default if you make a reply.
