| 807748 | 2009-09-08 09:05:00 | XP has given me no major problems, but I guess with everything it's starting to show it's age. I will probably end upgrading within the next 18 months and may take the leap and go for Vista or Windows 7. | convair (13650) | ||
| 807749 | 2009-09-08 12:44:00 | All I can say is I've had NO problems with 7, that said I do have the hardware to support it. But seriously, you should run the current OS with the current hardware. Match them. You'll find your experience is up to date and smooth as silk. | wellyg33k (11804) | ||
| 807750 | 2009-09-08 21:04:00 | 7 keeps getting thumbs up from reviews I have been reading and when I do a mobo upgrade + 3 or 4 G or RAM, and when I have a spare $200 available - or whatever the exact price is - then I will welcome Win7. For now my XP is rock solid and does what is needed. I am not a gamer and as far as I am concerned a good firewall, AV, and smart surfing make XP updates 'no problem'. Of course there is the possibility that some day I will become a Linux :nerd: convert. :D |

| 807757 | 2009-09-11 04:18:00 | Why should I invest in new Hardware just because Mr Gates decides to make it obsolete? The 9 series of Windows are all unstable. NT4, the foundation of 2000 & XP are stable. I am not into gaming or heavy graphics, so RAM & speed are not an issue. As for updates, I have found that they are more trouble than they are worth. If its working Ok, leave it alone! Like going to the Doctor for a check up, go in as fit as a flea, come out with a list of ailments, all designed to fill the coffers of the medical profession! Windows 7 has no problems with my Asus AMD dual processor except that it does not see the Agere Win Modem which I bought in 1953 & there are no drivers for it later than XP - yet. |
