| 807646 | 2009-09-07 22:37:00 | Do you have Norton or any restrictive security suite or firewall? If you do, disable them and try again. And I agree with WarNox. Network places has never worked for me, so I just type in \\IP of PC usually, although I've found "Network" in Vista does work and you can actually see the modems, routers and PCs connected. Also-how many PCs are there, and what OS do each of them run? Blam Hi there Blam, I use Kerio Personal Firewall for all my PCs. I have Kerio WinRoute Firewall for my Server machine. I have not used this one before so am trying to figure out how to add my other machines to enable communication. Yes all but one of the machines can communicate well when this firewall is disabled. The only machine which is experiencing the: reply from ::1:time<1ms, is my one.(the one I am using) I went to 'Local Area Connection' under 'Network Connections' and noticed that I had installed 'Microsoft TCP/IP version 6'. I unticked the box for this option. Do you think I need to uninstall it? I'm not sure. However, all other machines excluding this one, do not have this application installed. In establishing communication, I do the same thing myself. I ping first just to see if I can communicate to the other PC. If all is well, then I know I can continue sharing. I have four computers at the moment, but can be expanded to a total of 8 computers on the network. They are all Windows XP machines. Cheers |

| 807647 | 2009-09-07 23:08:00 | Hi Everyone, I am just letting you know that I uninstalled the 'Microsoft TCP/IP version 6' application. After a restart, I no longer encounter the '::1:time<1ms response. I have modified my firewall to accept my new IP addresses. All computers now can communicate with the exception of the firewall being enabled on the Server. I just need to figure how to use the firewall program. Otherwise all is good and thanks for your help. |
