809085 2009-09-11 23:04:00 i have a Creative I/O IDE CONTROLLER CARD , im trying to install it on a PC on a hard drive which i am doing a fresh install of windows on it as well while doing this. the instructions said if im doing this to copy the driver from the cd that came with the Controller card to a Floppy disc with at least 1.44 megabytes on it.

: then boot up with installation windows disc and press F6 to install THIRD PARTY DRIVERS.
: I did this and succesfully got the screen that said to press the S button and then install drivers.
: It went through the rest of the Windows installation and then rebooted, BUT!!!
Iinstead of finishing the installation it went back to the begining of the installation process.
: So i tried rebooting and taking out the windows disc but it didnt work, the drive just didnt boot up.
: I then tried going to the BIOS and disabling the cd drive, but also NOTHING.

SO CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE? thanx

PS : I AM RIGHT HERE BY MY COMPUTER SO I CAN REPLY ASAP . also if someone can really help, i can talk to them via my webcam or vice versa with my yahoo or msn account in messenger . its [edit : email addy removed]. THANKX AGAIN. Its 3 : 05pm. on a friday. just to prove it. lol thanx

809086 2009-09-11 23:28:00 After it rebooted, you didnt press a key did you?? Because if you did, it'll restart all over again. Once it reboots, leave it alone till it prompts for something. I wouldnt post your email in here, the only thing you'll get is spam Speedy Gonzales (78)

That just proves or suggests that you are in the Pacific Daylight Time zone...........it is Saturday morning here.......:)

Windows has limited intelligence, it is probably better to do one thing at a time.
Install Windows, then fit the IDE controller card and then install the driver.

809088 2009-09-12 00:09:00 Yes speedy, i did not touch any button, i know that when the words "Press any button to boot from CD" comes up, but i didnt press anything, and it doesnt really say that , it says " BOOT from CD" it doesnt says "Press any button ...." so it just does it automatically.
And Terry , the reason im using this card is becuz the mobo has only one port to plug in an IDE cable(i think its called) so im using that one for the cd drive. and thats why im using the card. Thanks for the tip about the email. ill take it off ASAP

809090 2009-09-12 00:48:00 I'm thinking back to Win95/98 days when sometimes things would turn to custard if add on cards like sound and dial up modem were already plugged in when installing Windows.

If you are using an IDE hard drive, try slaving the CD to it just for the purpose of Windows installation, using an IDE cable with 2 connectors at one end.
Then add the IDE controller card as suggested, and see if it installs correctly.

I presume the other HDD ports are SATA?

Edit: you only have 15 minutes time elapse in which to edit. Basically so the worlds history cannot be re-written...............:)

809091 2009-09-12 01:29:00 Could you give some more information on your IDE card? perhaps a model number etc? Agent_24 (57)
809092 2009-09-12 03:35:00 im not sure i understand what you mean Terry. do you mean puting the jumper from the cd drive to slave? and do you mean doing that before it restarts for the second time? could you watch me on webcam and troubleshoot wtih me please? thankx. Agent 24. here is the info from the little paper manual: ULTRA ATA/133 IDE RAID controller Card.
USER MANUAL: ATA8212-133R

If you are using an IDE hard drive, and your IDE cable has 2 connectors towards one end, then connect the end one (master) to the hard drive, and the CD drive to the connector further inboard (slave). If both drives have the jumpers set to cable select, then hopefully the bios will detect the HDD as master and the CD drive as slave.

If not set the jumpers so HDD is master, and CD is slave.

Then you can install Windows from the CD drive to the HDD.

Then when you have Windows installed and running OK, you can fit the IDE controller card and install its driver, and check that all is OK in Device Manager.

These cards have their own BIOS by the way which supplements the M/B BIOS and kicks in a little later during the boot process.

If it is now OK you can connect the hard drive to one of the IDE controller card ports with another IDE cable, and the CD drive back to the IDE port on the M/B with the CD drive connected to the end connector of the IDE cable.

I think that should be clear. I dont do webcam.

Ask one of the mods to do it for you

I think your problem here with not being able to boot is that your system BIOS is trying to boot from the onboard IDE controller and isn't using your other one.

You may need to change the boot order so it will try to boot from "add in cards" or something similar.
