808685 2009-09-10 23:18:00 I’ve got a movie here that was recorded off TV and I’ve edited out all the Adds weather forecasts etc.

All is well and it’s been saved as a .wmv file which plays beauty on any computer, but not on the stock standard DVD player in the lounge.

So, what I need to do is convert this 353 Mb file into a format that standard DVD players can handle and will fit on a 4.7gig disk.

I tried using Movie Maker to convert it to AVI but it somehow wanted to turn 353Mb into 8 Gb’s which of course wouldn’t fit on disk. :groan:

Soooooo, how do you guys go about such projects? :thanks

808686 2009-09-10 23:55:00 Hey there BM

Are you using Vista or XP? If Vista (Home Premium or above), you can use Windows DVD Maker to burn it to a DVD for the dvd drive.

If you've used Windows Media Center to record it, there is a burn function in there

808688 2009-09-11 22:34:00 Thanks guys.

Well I downloaded DVD Flick and set it up to what I thought was right.

However, after about two hours I get another disk that works fine on any computer but not on the lounge DVD player.

Now, I had the choice of encoding it to Pal or NTSC or NTSC Film or Mixed.

I chose Pal because I thought that was what we ran in NZ but it won’t work.

(By the way the DVD player works fine on any commercial DVD.)

Any tricks I may have missed using DVD Flick?

808689 2009-09-11 23:14:00 There are VARIOUS programs online that you dont have to pay for that you
can try for a limited amount of time and give you the full functions
of their programs abilities. I googled this for you. hope it helps. good luck . :)
