677045 2008-06-11 07:33:00 I'll am eager to see how iphone will do in the future as I have supported nokia device all the way

Pretty sure Nokia will think of something to compete with apple

My thoughts are that Nokia and apple are competing for different markets. And when I say that I'm comparing the N95 to the iphone. The N95 being the sort of phone I would want, I believe it does fantastic video which is something I would be after.

677047 2008-06-11 08:01:00 OK, so I done a little research and (although a lot prob already knew) the US price of $199 is a contract price ($30/m for 24 months, all USD of course) which you can only cancel after 1 month and pay the $200 USD kill fee.

I guess it was pretty obvious a handset cost of $400-ish was a bit too fresh. If we had unlimited data 3G plans I'd almost be fine paying $40 NZD (www.google.co.nz USD in NZD) but this would pretty much be a "no" based on current Vodafone data plans (www.vodafone.co.nz), as well as no "PrePay" plans for the iPhone 3G.

Something tells me that the current range of Vodafone plans are "hopefully" going to get 86'd out the window in favour of something very reasonable come the 11th of July.... Because what Vodafone NZ currently offers sucks compared to what the likes of O2 in the UK offers to iPhone users. I would hopefully see some sort of generous or unlimited data package relating to internet usage since that is what the iPhone is known for as well as a generous talk time plan with unlimited txts thrown in to boot. Plus a couple of option plans to appeal to different affordabillity levels.

677050 2008-06-11 08:29:00 Interestingly enough, Telstra do Mobile Data plans that's under HALF of what Vodafone / telecom offer ($8 per-MB casual use)

IIRC, 18 months ago when I had 3MB it cost me $15.. thats horrible!
If for $15 I was getting 50 MB, I'd sign up in a heartbeat!

677051 2008-06-11 08:31:00 Here is what O2 in the UK are doing
O2 and Apple today will ship the iPhone 3G in the UK and Ireland on July 11 - the day it ships in 22 countries worldwide.

New iPhone customers can purchase the 8GB model for £99, or the 16GB model for just £159. You can then sign up to a regular £35 contract (600 minutes, 500 texts per month), or a new £30 contract (75 minutes, 125 texts).

Customers signing up for the more expensive tariffs will get the iPhone for free. New users signing up to a £45 per month contract (1200 minutes, 500 texts) get the 8GB phone for free or can get the 16GB iPhone for just £59.

Users signing up to the £75 per month contract (3000 minutes, 500 texts) get the 16GB model for free.

Your $15 for 50MB still sounds steep by iPhone standards considering how much web surfing iPhone users do - almost as much as regular web surfers.
