677025 2008-06-11 05:35:00 There were updates on Forbes Business, Yahoo news and iSupply which can give a guide. Nokia and Ericsson are in different situation in that they don't clear out inventory channels 2 weeks prior to a new product being announced or if they do then they would alert their retail channels - Apple just keeps you guessing.

For the record, Russel Brown of Radio bFM and http://www.publicaddress.net/ fame is a lot more accurruate in his news.

Gosh, are you for real??????? Or are you a :drool

677027 2008-06-11 05:38:00 It was WWF, and people confused it with World Wildlife Fund

677029 2008-06-11 05:51:00 I spose the point is that although an unusually large proportion of "Apple consumers" are loyal to the brand, there's still a lot of people that aren't so wouldn't be aware of rumours, etc.

And just in case, Apple Rumour's Buyer's Guide (http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/) is a good place to check before buyig a Mac for anyone that's considering it.

677031 2008-06-11 05:57:00 You're quite right, Ken. I read something a couple of days ago on another forum where somebody asked "Why do people buy new Macs two days before WWDC?!" to which someone else replied "Because the general public don't know or care about WWDC". It's the same situation here; although there have been rumours, the general public doesn't know when Apple is going to announce new products.

It's called doing your homework, members here give people **** for buying computers from toaster shops. Yet when a mac user does his homework before buying a new mac he is called a fanboy.
Surely you wouldn't expect an experienced gamer to buy a new graphics card without checking what was in the pipeline?

677032 2008-06-11 05:57:00 I think Apple is brilliant. They keep the crowds guessing, and feel quite free to charge a premium for their laptops, computers and other products. There's a good reason people eagerly buy these though (as much as I don't like this strategy, clearly it works). The industrial designers and OS developers do an outstanding job with design continuity and that's something every other company lacks (with a few exceptions perhaps, not that I can think of any)!
One problem I have with Apple though, is the tightly closed source idealogy of the company. Strikes me as a company that's not afraid to dictate what it's customers want, should want and how they want it, no questions asked. As more and more Apple devices make it into the home and business we're essentially telling Apple to keep it up, keep us guessing and eventually dictate how we run our operating systems, mobiles etc. Just a thought!
Here's hoping the iPhone 2 will really stir things up in the mobile market, especially Android and the handset makers who choose the run the open source mobile OS.

The whole thing behind mac is that they design and sell good products. While this sounds stupid, most businesses focus is financial, primarily. Mac seem to see that if they design good products, and market them well, then the financial and competitive side will take care of itself.

Not a fanboy, I just admire that nobody else designs such holistically good products. But if I could custom hardware without spending silly $$$'s, and play games without screwing around with bootcamp etc. I'd be a mac fanboy.
