| 678706 | 2008-06-17 02:57:00 | I'd agree. However, if you're trying to tell me you're an example of this, you must be kidding. $90 for 6GB would be the worst plan in the world. We have a 30GB plan for not much more than that. As far as mobile plans go, 6GB for $90 isn't too bad. But don't even try to say that's on par with fixed lines. Even with NZ's hyper-inflated, low bandwidth "Broadband" plans. I think you'll need to go back and check your "facts". This is the link to Telecom's broadband plan page (www.telecom.co.nz). If you have a look at the 6GB plan (Explorer) it costs you $49.95 a month. But let's not forget that you can't buy it for $49.95 a month. Instead you have to FIRST buy a land line and that's, what, $45 a month? So now we're talking about a service that's more than $90. With the Broadband Pro plan from Vodafone you get 6GB of traffic AND it's mobile and there's no need for an additional voice component you might not want or need. Cheers Paul |

| 678708 | 2008-06-17 03:05:00 | Paul - I agree I have made a choice of providers (a Hobson's Choice! - I'd love to be able to justify full-speed mobile BB to SWMBO), but I can't see the difference (from a consumers point of view) between the Woosh Wireless/20GB a month @ $54 . 95 (slow BB) plan and the Vodafone/3GB a month @ $69 . 95 plan . Both services are delivered via the ether . Why the huge difference in price? It can't all be a price differential based on speed, surely!!!! The same type of cellsites are used for both (AFAIK) and the technology can't be that different . . . The technology used is very similar (W-CDMA) but the methodology is completely different . You'll notice Woosh doesn't sell its service as being mobile . That's because it's not - no hand off between cellsites, no overheads for managing the constant staying-in-touch that you get with a mobile service . Vodafone IS offering a mobile service and the overheads eat into a significant proportion of the bandwidth available . Cheers Paul |

I would have thought that they were one in the same - or at least they are about to be or can you not get mobile broadband on Prepay? If you can then they are one in the same thing. |

| 678711 | 2008-06-17 03:43:00 | Okay then, but for me, VF's prepay is a long way ahead of anything that involves their inept accounts department. (They would not score so highly on any test involving efficency, aptitude, manners or any accepted standard of behaviour when disturbed.) The prepay does not involve me in any surprises, there are no hidden expenses or mickey-mouse decisions. It works well and reliably, so I consider it offers better value than the various other plans. Also, it is rather brave of Paul (and also the spokesperson for Slingsh) to post here, where there is not a great deal of attention paid to PC pandering to weak performance. Congratulations. |
