In a nutshell, Its ****, And the only thing it has going for it are the people who post here, The very same people being subjected to this trash. Everyone involved, You suck, and I hope to god you take that personally, As that's how its intended. Someone stand up and put a stop to this retarded crap. |

Regarding the comment from Metla - maybe they are in co-hoots with the petrol prices - just add a little more each day. Personally I don't think people mind a small bit of advertising but come on - the sites getting more cluttered, and the PC World magazine is going the same way. I'm no prude - but some of the ads are not even computer related - how long will it be before PC world starts advertising like some of the other sites - read that as porn ads,we are already getting dating ads - I have seen SO MANY, what used to be good family sites suddenly advertising that way - it pays the bills is no excuse. |

The irony of the situation is that someone somewhere obviously thinks that pissing off the vocal minority in the forum isn't too important, because hey, there's all the silent majority who'll keep coming. They fail to understand the basic fact that a forum, any forum, is all about the vocal minority. No vocal minority. No posts for the silent majority to read. Hence no silent majority. |

That's because they are running three ads spots where the ads are sourced from Google, and 3 spots they control themselves. So FBM doesn't - it appears (I guessing) - have any control over what Google shunts into its three ad spots. Sometimes they are relevant tech ads, but increasingly it seems they are not. |

| 677926 | 2008-06-13 11:36:00 | The Google ads appear to be based on what words (in the posts) that are on that page. The military dating ad was because of the mention of police and armed squads etc. Many of the chat posts because of their very nature, have rather strange adverts for a PC tech forum. This thread has an advert for AdWords specialists at the top. A thread on warranties has ads from the Consumer magazine and AA insurance. What really bugs me are the ads that promise to fix your pc with one click of a button. Half of them are those scam/dodgy programs that do more damage than good after shedding you of a few $$. I would hate to think novice PC users on this forum think those programs are actually being recommended because they are displayed on this forum. |
