Dont know if this was obvious or not but before removing hard drive when cleanin out dust etc laptop was running fine

Probably because it doesnt use windows SATA drivers, and its probably on another partition

If you did I'm willing to bet it was 2 sticks of memory, try swapping them over.

theres only one way the drive goes in but ive pulled and pushed. why would drive not being connected properly only effect windows?

Might be corruption, if you can boot into Windows Setup DVD then Shift-F10 to bring up command prompt and run chkdsk..
