810070 2009-09-14 04:38:00 I have a PS3 in my lounge, connected to my TV. Upstairs is a wireless router (Linksys WRT54G2). PS3 has been configured to connect to the network and can connect, but the signal is very weak and I have been unable to download updates etc.

For the PS3 system updates, I have downloaded the latest version (3.0) yesterday to my PC and installed to the PS3 from USB stick. However, I now have a PS3 title which wishes to update to a new version, but despite repeated attempts yesterday, will not stay connected to the internet for long enough - it keeps signing out of the PS store.

What are the options for performing these updates? I could take the PS3 and all it's cables up to where the router is, but that would involve reconfiguring the PS3 for a different TV etc. How can I improve the strength of the wireless signal? Can I connect a second wireless router somewhere betwen the 2 devices? If so, how would I go about it?

Yes you can. Called a Wireless Repeater.

Just get another one of the linksys router you currently have, or a WL-520GU off TradeMe, then flash em with DDWRT firmware and follow the instructions here (www.dd-wrt.com)

Alternatively you could upgrade to Wireless N, which *might* solve the problem.

Or Ethernet over Power adapters(around $100 on TradeMe)

Good Luck, and if you need any more help just ask!
