| 809516 | 2009-09-12 22:52:00 | Hey on my server that I just setup yesterday I set a static ip address and also deleted the default gateway address so the pc cant access the net but i was wondering does this stop people being able access it from the internet side? And if so does this mean no virus should infect it? | nedkelly (9059) | ||

That doesn't mean other machines on your network will block things to the server though... if they can "see" the server then there is a chance that Internet nasties can be passed on to the server because the other hosts on your network will consider it safe and trusted node on the network. I would just install decent AV/ firewall on the server... regardless of whether it access the Internet or not. Cheers, |

| 809520 | 2009-09-13 00:04:00 | hey just wondering my mate wants to be able to get stuff off my server. What would be the best way for him to do that? | nedkelly (9059) | ||
| 809521 | 2009-09-13 01:17:00 | I am wondering is there any way to allow access to my server over the internet? So what I would like to be able to do is enter in a UNC path on the client pc in another location and then I can login and access data on the server's hard drives. Is this possible? |
