| 679591 | 2008-06-20 22:24:00 | I am buying incandescent bulbs to make up a large stockpile of various wattages, bought five last night more to follow, as finances allow. | zqwerty (97) | ||

(that "ballast" is essentially a mini Switch mode power supply that steps up to 800+ volts) what ever happened to Keep it simple. the phosphorous is probably more poisonous than the mercury (phosy jaw ring a bell) |

Well I for one have never seen all these fancy replacements for Helogen and tungston. I have seen them advertized in the US but never here only the bread and butter versions. | paulw (1826) | ||

You'll need a large stockpile, current lamps ex China etc don't last. I've got spots here that have survived 20 years of daily use, the few I've replaced have been replaced/replaced/replaced................ I used to part-own a lighting shop and when we closed it down in the early '80s I kept boxes of various lamps, sufficient to last my expected lifetime and then some. Pity I didn't keep a full range. :( Cheers Billy 8-{) |

If they last more than a month, then they'll last ages, but a significant number fail within the first few weeks of use, in an expensive sort of fashion. |
