678824 2008-06-17 05:01:00 Guys, do slingshot, xnet etc carry unused data over?

I’m with Kinect and they carry any unused data over to the next billing period.

I’ve just returned from 3 weeks in Aus. so used very little of my cap which means I’ve got more this month and if I don’t use it, it will be tacked onto next month.

With Kinect you pay for it and you’re allowed to use it. My understanding is that most ISP’s confiscate unused data.

I see it as a big plus, not to mention I’ve had excellent speeds and no Spam.

With xnet, data doesn't carry over, but that's because you only pay for what you use anyway... (at 0.1c/MB which is $1.04/GB)

678825 2008-06-17 06:07:00 Yea that was the big draw card with me for xnet was you pay for what you use.

Cant really argue with that aye.

678826 2008-06-17 19:29:00 Ninjabear finds your site confusing because he Asian
If you try it out a few time it is not. Your plans are very innovative and I like the data bank idea, but it wouldn't make me join Slingshot. I joined for 3 weeks last year and had nothing but connection problems so I won't go back.
You no the old saying, onece bitten twice shy.
:)
I find the site is quite hard to navigate as well. For instance, you have all these links down the side under broadband; one of which says Plans. You click on it expecting to be shown what plans are on offer in nice big graphics, but to find those you have to click on some piddly lil text link in the middle of the page.
Also, (as asked) what age groups are your stick people aimed at? Im sure my 4 year old would find them entertaining; personally, I can't stand them

678827 2008-06-17 21:21:00 Xnet site not that good to navigate.
I wanted to know if they did land lines, not good.
I thought Slingshot tariff not bad.
$20 for ulimited calls in NZ and Oz.
$50 for 15gig.
$45 for land line.

But am put off by complaints of service.

I am with Clear and have never needed service, all goes so well.

678828 2008-06-18 00:20:00 Xnet do the digital thingy where you plug your phone into the router... kinda like skype type of thing. rob_on_guitar (4196)
678829 2008-06-18 01:36:00 My feedback,

Yes, as said the feedback wasn't quite what I expected . Clearly some bad experiences in the past for several users .

I'm in a position to make some changes, so will definately take on board what's been said .

I am not holding my breath on that . When I complained on your slingshot forum, you didn't solve the problem, even though you said you would look into it, you never every got back to me . Hence I changed provider . Xnet is more responsive, and you pay for what you use, which is better then your system . The worst ISP IMOH, and I am still very annoyed about it .

678830 2008-06-18 02:44:00 What does IMOH stand for?

In my own head?Lol.looking up at google

678831 2008-06-18 02:48:00 If you scroll to internet and then click Xnet HSI Broadband you'll clearly see it requires your telecom line while if you click Naked FUSION DSL it clearly explains it requires a VOIP device and doesn't require a telecom landline.

Easy to navigate really.

My friend's daughter would also enjoy the little cute stick figures but overall its a pain to navigate the slingshot website.

Information are all over the place.Too much clicks!

678832 2008-06-18 05:16:00 Slingshot is the worst by a longshot :horrified ,

this thread was pretty much self promoting funny they never pop up anywhere else they don't contribute at all, notice on geekzone they posted the plan as well, no one there seems interested and here the feedback is almost hostile, where other ISP's are welcomed why is that do you think ScottH ?, I think the only positive stuff you get is on your own forums where you beleave your own stuff and tend to kick anyone off where they say anything negative, had a couple of mates that got booted for raising concerns, we are all on Xnet now and love the support and interaction, you guys are way down the list and I would never go back to you, and pretty much your plans are just a quick copy of Xnets with data banking .

Stream ----- Ignite
River ------- Fire
Flood ------- Inferno

See a pattern here

Xnet come out with Free offnet, you guys Copy . . . . LOL LOL LOL LOL :yuck: :groan: . . . could it be any more obvious here, I guess you just watch what they do and try match .

So ScottH , since you have come to a unbiased forum what do you take from this, I would take it that Slingshot is not well liked outside your forum and you guys have a lot of work to do, jumping on here trying to self promote a plan is what this was all about, If you were really interested you may have been around here before now, I think you got the answers you deserved and I doubt you will be back :)

Best answer your questions (sorry for the length, thought I'd get all out there) :)

Firstly . . Self promotion? Well that's eye of the beholder, as you've said this is an unbias forum . . exactly why I posted here . I read the mag, so thought why not see what their forums are all about . I'm sorry but VERY hositle was my first impression, some of it constructive but the amount of swearing involved? Anyway, bad experiences with any company would annoy me too, so understandable you directed it at me . . being from Slingshot ;)

The Geekzone forums? Heavily populated by Xnet users, hense the lack of interest on Slingshot matters . On that note, had a look a gpforums? They are another unbias forum with a completely different feeling towards Slingshot . Different forums, communities and groups have different attitudes - I'm trying to get a feel for all of them .

Your mates had issues with the Slingshot forums? Apologies for that, don't know the details but I'm sure it wasnt intentional . If there is anything I can do, let me know .

Xnet, data banking and free off-peak? Yes your correct regarding the difference between pay per GB and the banking concept, but us copying free off-peak? Actually it was first released by our owner on the geekzone way before anyone used the idea - Xnet simply got it to market before us . . . (whether they already had the idea, who knows?) I believe Xnet has a cap on their free data of 75GB p/month - Slingshot doesnt . That plan also has a high on-peak data charge .

Certain plans suit different people . . . providers pick their market, create what they believe is best and try sell it . Some plans are mass market, pick any of Telecoms plans, and some hit a niche, Xnet's Torrent plan . Slingshot is different again, and so is Vodafone . What is the best? Well thats for you the customer to decide - the briliance of a free(ish) competitive market .

Why I haven't been here before? No reason all, just haven't . . . It was as simple as I was browsing the other day and came across your forums . From there thought PC World would be a smart bunch and would up for it .

Anyway, is a good discussion - I was looking for feedback and certainly got it! :)
