Kiwis don't usually let people walk all over them. Even Rogers of Canada who are total thieves are allegedly coming up with a decent plan for contract and pre pay options. Rogers are the sole cell phone network provider in Canada Article here www.nationalpost.com |

By the way, I've also heard that Vodafone's data charges are dropping substantially on 28/7, apparently down to $1 per day for the first 10 MB, then $1 per MB. I believe the current price is $10 per MB! |

If they can drop pricing of data by about 1000% in a day, why haven't they ammended their prices before then. I wouldn't we surprised if they were doing that as part of their agreement with Apple, as apple want people using their mobile browser, and it isn't a good look for apple to have data charged at $10 per MB. Even $1 per MB and a $10 MB per day quota isn't much at all, perhaps only good for email, and browsing a few sites. Some websites homepages are now approaching 1MB in size, with all the ads. |

Believe it or not it is all down to Apple's direction which is why it has taken Rogers of Canada so long to get an iPhone distribution contract with Apple - I mean they are only over the border but Canadians have been waiting a whole year for a device and service that their southern neighbours have had from the start. Rogers has been unwilling to bring a decent data plan to the table... until now. Also unrelated but interesting. AT&T is paying Apple a $325 subsidy on each new iPhone 3G sold in the US in addition to offering the electronics maker a hefty bounty for each subscriber addition it gains from sales of the handset at Apple retail stores, according to a new report. Oppenheimer equity research analyst Yair Reiner told clients in a research report that the subsidy is more than 50 percent higher than most other smart phones, which are typically subsidized by about $200. He said the abnormal concession on AT&T's part reflect the carrier's confidence in the iPhone's ability to grow its subscriber base and drive an overall increase in the average revenue it makes off customers through higher margin services and data plans. The net result, according to the analyst, is a disproportionally stacked offense in Apple's favor that will leave rivals like Research in Motion and Nokia "scrambling" to hit lower price points at the expense of their respective bottom lines. |

Vodafone 'revolution' failing to hit home The firm launched the product in October last year, lauding it as the first time consumers could make a break from the old way of making phone calls and saying it would "revolutionise the home phone market''. At the time Vodafone's general manager of product and service Kursten Shalfoon said it was a key strategy in the company's plans to move beyond the mobile market, and would mean consumers could cut the cord with Telecom. It requires consumers to buy the "at home box'', plug their home phone into it and use their existing landline number to make calls. But nine months after the launch, the product, now called ``Home Phone Plus'', is struggling to make headway against Telecom's land-line products. www.stuff.co.nz Maybe that is because customers don't see any value for money in the deal... |

| 679372 | 2008-06-20 07:26:00 | Vodafone's current casual data plan is a horrific price but with an account a 3 gig monthly plan is $69 add another $10 to double it to 6 gig. It's the plan I use to get online. Wouldn't be too bad if 3G was more prevalent and there weren't so many gaps in even the 2G coverage. | Sue (33) | ||

Here is what Rogers of Canada are rumored to be doing "Specifically, Rogers is rumored to be offering $30 unlimited data plans for consumers, and $45 unlimited data plans for enterprise. Customers, however, will have to sign 3-year agreements. The remainder of details are very similar to leaked AT&T records. The 30.00CND = $38.79 NZ 45.00CND = $58.00 NZ |
