679283 2008-06-21 09:49:00 I don't think anyone will be able to crack my wifi very easily :D

SSID Broadcasting is disabled. There is a MAC filter enabled, only allowing my wireless devices. I use WPA2 only with a 63 character (randomly generated) password. Hmm, how can I make it even more secure... :D :nerd:

679284 2008-06-21 10:24:00 Robots to attack anyone who try to hack into your network?

Nothing like a bit of "physical security" :D

679286 2008-06-21 10:50:00 I think there is a software that you can install whereby the screen of the drive-by user's laptop will get distorted upon connecting to your wireless network?

Cheers :)

Nothing like a bit of "physical security" :D Hmm, not a bad idea... a couple of T888s aught to do the trick :D

Junk the wireless and use ethernet :pThe laptop is really the only thing that uses the wifi, and I am not going to walk round the house with a 30m network cable trailing me :p

Nobody can 'drive-by' my place, am at the end of a cultersack :p

679288 2008-06-21 22:11:00 I suppose that those who believe using others Wi-Fi is acceptable, have no objection to people borrowing stuff from their mailbox, clothes line etc. :o :banana R2x1 (4628)
679289 2008-06-23 23:10:00 Why be proud of Stealing from someone that may well not be able to afford a new laptop and bag.
Suggest you do something to repay your neighbour and stop ripping them off.
Karma's a *****.

You should probably know that that was a one-off. I haven't accessed it since. And all I did then was a wee bit of light surfing (just enough to post here). I doubt that they even care about an extra 500Kb.

679291 2008-06-24 10:59:00 Steve L, I think that link you posted makes great points, like one guy commented that he leaves his Wi fi open on purpose and has no problems with people logging in, This could be the case with geeksters neighbor.

If it were hacked that would be a different story, otherwise I too would have no problem using it.

However I wouldn't abuse it and start downloading torrents with it. Not saying that you do Geekster but yeah I would use it.

679292 2008-06-24 11:07:00 Good Karma would be to go over to the neighbours house and just mention that you have noticed their network showing up as being "available". Offer to help them secure it properly as they may not know how to do this, and would probably appreciate it. :) Jen (38)
