| 679541 | 2008-06-18 06:30:00 | Here's a conundrum for you: The company that I work for install lighting control systems and one of the main features is that you can dim the lights to pre-set levels and fade in and fade out lighting 'scenes'. No dimming with CFL's means this all goes out the window! I know personally people that have spent thousands of dollars on these top of the range lighting control systems and with incandescents gone they are either going to have to change all their fittings to halogens or use their lighting control system as an over the top switch! Ridiculous. If the govt makes me change to CFL's I'm going to leave all my lights on all day in protest. |

| 679547 | 2008-06-18 10:47:00 | I have one CF that is around 12 yrs old, still the best one I have. Full light from switch on, bright and I like the colour for the kitchen since food looks natural. For ordinary room lighting, I do not have a single incandescent, and haven't had one for years. However, if the olden lampes are going to be out of the shops before next Xmas lunchtime I will have to stash away a few spares for the oven, sewing machine, fridge, car, etc. How I am going to get one of those CF's into the torch is worrying me nearly as much as fitting enough batteries to give 230v plus a switching widget to give ac. Could be it won't be such an economical torch afterward. |

It seems that most of you / us are using CF's, but not everywhere in the house depending on light quality needed etc . It seems most of you have reservations with CF's on dimming and mercury levels . But I still don't think banning incandescants is a good idea . Over a few years CF's should drop in price as production ramps up . |
