2008-06-19 02:20:00 | In my book the only handsome-looking utes are Fords and Holdens, and late model Toyota Hilux. Holden Maloo ftw! :D

2008-06-19 02:21:00 | How could they possibly be gas-torch proof? The ute in the picture is an el camino . Wicked looking rig . The only UTE in the pix is the Scion ( . edmunds . com/media/reviews/top10/05 . best . under . 15k/05 . scion . xb . 500 . jpg" target="_blank">www . edmunds . com) . We actually call them SUVs though . Stands for "small utility vehicle" We don't call Chevrolet El Caminos "utes" . . . . . they are actually pick-up trucks . This El Camino appears to be about a 1977 or 1978 . The Denver boot has multiple layers of non-ferrous material on the arms and the lock mechanism . There was a locksmith who tried to remove on from his own car once . He tried for several hours with a torch, a hacksaw, a Sawzall ( . curbly . com/uploads/photos/0000/0001/1440/sawzall_large . jpg" target="_blank">www . curbly . com)and a sledge hammer . It was badly deformed, blackened and beaten to death . . . but it never failed . Other tests with a plasma cutter were almost successful .

2008-06-19 02:22:00 | It's a Toyota Scion wearing the boot. We were talking about the silver ute, 3rd car in. That thing isn't a ute! Edit - Fine, the pick up truck, 3rd vehicle in. IMO, the only better looking 'real' 4wd than a Land Rover (www.ajeepthing.com) is the Hilux (www.newjapancars.com). And again (www.airplex.co.nz).

And again ( . airplex . co . nz/images/steeltop/TOYOTA%20Hilux%20Double-Cab . jpg" target="_blank">www . airplex . co . nz) . That Hilux looks like an escapee from a Transformers movie set . Gads . . all the gingerbread on it . Is that stuff stapled or glued on? Land Rovers are kewl, they just flip over here a lot when they hit a bicycle or a pedestrian . We call the newer ones "Range Rovers" I think now . But, frankly, I don't pay much attention to Euro-Boxes unless they get stuck under my suspension when I pass over them . |

2008-06-19 02:54:00 | Getting back to the Wheel clamps- Anyone been watching Fair Go On Wednesday nights (7.30) over the last few weeks? - the wheel clampers in some places around NZ have been going overboard clamping people left right and center, then demanding a fee if $150 + to remove the clamp. One old guy who had a disability sticker on his car got clamped for parking in a disability car park, the sticker unbeknown to the guy had fallen on the floor so couldn't be seen, even when he opened the door and showed the clamper the sticker sitting on the floor the wan*er still charged him. They set up a hidden camera (fair Go) to test them, some clampers were waiting in a well known carpark (for clamping) in a van, within 30 seconds of the person leaving their car it was clamped. Mind you last night was a good one - the clampers Clamped a Police car out side the Airport :) - as they said whats next ? The ambulance.
