679346 2008-06-18 02:31:00 You still need to activate the phone though, so until they are hacked it's effectively an iBrick.

You mean unlocked since hacking allows you to put other apps on the iPhone such as ones that weren't included with it although that is somewhat now irrelevant with the iPhone apps store.

679347 2008-06-18 08:15:00 Of course not

well I think thats about what you will need to pay, the $400 price is only that good due to the contract of $50 per month.

400+($50*24) = $1600

even when we get dodgy import iphones you will be seeing a price of over $900.

apple are making what some say is the best phone on the market, it has more bells and such than any other phone, and you have an issue with the price?

but what other phone has GPS, MP3, wifi, web browser.
some of the crackberry phones are about as good......

I can see your point.....
at the end of the day you are paying for the apple badge.

50% of the world just want a phone that can make voice calls and every thing else is just one more thing that can go wrong.

Mine does except GPS. It has Real Player, WMP, IEMobile, OperaMobile, I use it to surf the web everyday and MSN through wi-fi and it can use Vodafone's internet network too.

Its an HP iPAQ.

and my real point is that for a nice HP iPAQ you will have to pay a lot more than $400.
depending on the model you may pay as much as $1200.

if you want a high-end toy then you pay a high-end price.

Maybe that is what the petition should be about, as that is effctvely locking the iphone. I am sure the commerce commission wouldn't be happy that vodafone are doing that either, as ther are competition issues.
