2008-06-22 00:50:00 | Just wondering what you guys think of that Add of the LTSA insisting that we insist on side air bags? I must say Im surprised that the management of the LTSA (Loony Transport Safety Authority) saw fit to Star in the Adds themselves. :groan:

In a statement just released, the LTSA have advised that overseas research has revealed that countries that drive on the right-hand side of the road have less accidents per head of capita than those that drive on the left. Accordingly, New Zealand will change sides to take advantage of these statistics. Andy Knucklehead of the LTSA has advised that to save any confusion the change will take place in two stages. As of the 1st August all heavy vehicles including busses will change and on 1st December all light vehicles, including motor cycles and push bikes will follow. Mr Knucklehead is convinced the transition will be seamless. When asked if it will be necessary for all existing vehicles to be converted to left hand drive he replied that because it is election year and the financial impost of the conversion may cost the incumbent government votes, only new vehicles will be required to be left hand drive. |

2008-06-22 19:21:00 | . . . Instead of converting to Left Hand Drive, existing cars may travel in reverse . That way they are already on the correct side of the road . | R2x1 (4628) | |
2008-06-22 21:28:00 | Ahhhh yes, but that would leave them with 4 or 5 reverses and only 1 forward. My Uncles tell me Italian Tanks were built like that during WW2. ;)

2008-06-22 22:33:00 | Thats a very good point R2. I wonder if its too late for them to rethink the proposition. It wouldnt effect the insisted upon side Air Bags, but it may be confusing for the Bags themselves, as they would change sides and therefore may implode rather than explode. Dahhhh, nothings simple.
