Good point. It's also for "training and quality control" purposes, as many places like to call it.

681336 2008-06-23 09:49:00 I'd be in but the toll call prices get my goat. I did have my toll calling with Telstra Clear and paid under 5 cents a min to call Auckland at anytime, then the "wonderful" broadband offers came with an additional $10 per month if you didn't have toll calls with IHUG. So i had to signup with IHUG's tolls and since then the price have risen to 25c per min, anywhere in the country mind you. But Mr IHUG/Vodaphone I only call Auckland and not that often. So much as I can get a cheaper deal elsewhere it's not worth the extra $10 that would get relieved from my pocket for not calling thru IHUG. Now Telstra's big backyard looks interesting.... Wanna match it to keep my $50 per month or gain my landline as well....? EX-WESTY (221)
681337 2008-06-23 09:55:00 Sounds interesting, although their customer support isn not the best. I wouldn't choose anything just because it is simply the cheapest.

Just wondering what you will do if they can't actually forward your existing @xtra.co.nz email address to a new one. Xtra would be well within their right to prevent them forwarding your email to another email address. Once you cancel an xtra account, you do lose teh xtra email addresses, unless Vodafone will be paying xtra to continue to use the email address for you to use.

Just because they are recording the call, doesn't mean that they will make the recording avaliable to you, incase of a dispute. They probably record it, so they can prove that you agreed to signup verbally.

Lol true, good thing i have already changed over the handful of services that I had with that address to my Gmail account, that is my primary one anyway. And customer support? who cares about that. When was the last time I used that, hmm.... maybe 10 years ago. And while we're on the topic, with Xtra/Telecom, I feel like I am at the very bottom of the chain anyway, can't comment on the support as I haven't used it but I've never heard any praise about it, and the connection is terrible. How can it get any worse, I ask? I don't pick things solely because they're the cheapest either, but in a situation like this, it doesn't hurt to try. If it's good, I can use the savings to take up an online game such as that new Warhammer MMO when it's out.

681339 2008-06-23 12:08:00 We are trialling a range of different price points in the market in different areas and I'm not sure whether one of them is an unlimited data plan but it could very well be. Never say never!

I don't agree, as they are replying to a post, and they didn't start the thread. This is unlike the SLingshot thread that was started by slingshot for feedback 'on their new products'.

Hmmm... now that you mention it, we are not even in the phone books so how they got our number in the first place is a mystery. Maybe our number is sold on some black market, we tend to get maybe 1 call every month from random telemarketing people.

Well they sent an email saying "We'll let you know in the next few days when your broadband, home phone line and features will be switched to us, but we wanted to tell you your calling was active so that you can pick up the phone and start enjoying the great new rates you get with us." earlier today. Will just patiently wait till something happens ;)
