| 810589 | 2009-09-17 06:21:00 | Hi there, I purchased a 1TB WD Caviar Green external hdd a few months ago and I thought it was quality was decent and the performance was great!! I purchased the external hdd from eden computers in Mt Eden, Auckland and made the external hdd in front of me . It only took 5 minutes to attach the hdd together with case . www . edencomputer . co . nz/ I use esata II and it is faster than USB 2 . 0 But the disadvantage is that I have to power up my USB first than attach the ESATA II cable to it . Heres a comparison of transferring 25GB of music when I use USB 2 . 0 and ESATA II . USB 2 . 0 - SPEED - APPROX 20MB/S TOOK 40 - 50 MINS E-SATA II - SPEED APPROX 40MB/S TOOK AROUND 10-15MINS I was a bit disappointed with the speed considering that the E-SATA II boasts 300MB/S but I think you need a powerful desktop . I own a laptop so I think speed will vary . Hope this helps |
