680654 2008-06-20 10:25:00 Okay here we go how many people out there are going to line up for skys new HD set top box at the price of $600 i think not many.

Not only do you pay $600 for the install you also have to pay an xtra $10 just to get the hd service as well as your channel package.

The other option is to get sky HD installed for $49 if you are an existing subscriber and then pay $15 a month rental of the HD set top box and still pay another $10 on top of that for the Hd service. what a rip off.

How do i know all this sky rung me last night and asked me if id like to buy i said no thanks its to dear for the rubbish thats on now.

680655 2008-06-20 10:47:00 Well if you were thinking of getting MySky then the new box has more storage and more tuners (although not all will work at launch) so the $600 you would pay anyway you get more for your money.
Then you can pay $10 a month for HD content if you wish.

680656 2008-06-20 20:38:00 Not me. HD is only a few channels - movies, sports etc, the pay extra ones. At least to begin with.
I'm not paying $600 for anything I won't own.

I couldn't care less about HD anyway, don't even have a widescreen TV.

680660 2008-06-21 08:49:00 TV3 HD is going to be available without the $10 fee apsattv (7406)
680661 2008-06-21 22:11:00 When we changed from Black & White TV to Colour it was still a few years before the majority of programmes were in colour. My guess is that it will be maybe 4-5 years before the majority of our TV here will be in HD and all 16:9, as it will take all of that time for people to switch if not longer. Once analogue is switched off it might prompt people into upgrading.

In that period we will have a lot more channels come on line, particularly Freeview ones as they have overseas. From memory Canwest were to put about 30 Freeview channels on once Freeview was up and running sucessfully.

I currently get the Freeview channels via my computer and MySky to the lounge and will happily upgrade to MySky HDi in the near future, just have to get another compatible TV first, probably Xmas, although an tempted to wait on HDTV's with built in Dual tuners to be available here like they already have overseas.
