| 810697 | 2009-09-15 20:44:00 | hi can anyone help i try to turn on my laptop i can hear it starting to boot up but then nothing just a blanck screen HELP Have you tried plugging it to an external screen ? - many laptops got D-sub 15 pin VGA out and some of the newer even HDMI. If possible then try turning off both Laptop and external screen , then connect the two correctly, turn on the screen and try turning on your laptop. If that is of no help : From the description that you give it can be a multitude of problems but would sound like a serious hardware problem. Which is impossible to diagnose other than trying to locate the "defect part" through working with the machine. However even though you hear "starting sound" it could be one of more things of which your laptop consists that could be "broken down". |

Inverters can be fairly cheap to replace (depending on model), backlights are only cheap if you can take the LCD apart without breaking it. Otherwise you need to get a whole new panel. |

There is generally a hot key that you press, and you can cycle it via .. ie., LCD only, both LCD and external screen or external screen only (LCD off). Generally you press the FN key with a number or a function key, that key will usually have a computer screen on it. |
