810349 2009-09-15 03:50:00 Anyone know of a “freeware” publisher, read only program? Our grandbabies school sends us newsletters and we don’t have Publisher. I did a Google and it just brings up Microsoft’s version. Thanks, Iam ianhnz (4263)

810351 2009-09-15 04:03:00 Scribus isn't bad, although it's Linux only - so you'll need a PC with Linux installed to use it.

It's basically an open source implementation of Adobe InDesign / PageMaker.

Edit: Ignore this, it's irrelevant - didn't quite realise what you wanted at first.

Must be an affluent area if the parents all have MS Publisher :D

Maybe you should remind the school to use an open source format or at least PDF the newsletter. Are the letters actually sent in .PUB format?

810358 2009-09-15 04:58:00 If you receive a Publisher (.pub) file in e-mail and you are unable to open it, you can download a trial version of Publisher.

By using the trial version, you can also find out more about how Office Publisher 2007 can help you quickly create professional-looking publications.

After the trial expires, you can still use the trial version as a viewer for Publisher files, even though you can no longer create or change publications.
