I'll just pop up the ladder to pick some veges for tea . . . . . . . . . . .

Some of the new Chinese buildings have to replace the footprint they upset with a new garden on the rooftop to equal the bio-impact .

It's kinda nice that their PR-agents are trying to spin China into a more green-friendly caste for the world's eyes .

The rooftop gardens are fed with the waste water from the building itself, and the treatment of it is then carried out in pools that are at ground level .

Along the way . . . the air is conditioned with the heat exchange values from the water and once the water is clean enough, it is evaporated in solar racks, condensed and returned to the potable supply .

It's cleaner than you will ever imagine . That's the way we made pure water for the boilers and drinking purposes on board the US Navy ships on which I was stationed . Even in Hong Kong harbor, where there are dead bodies floating, the water was sterilized and made drinkable for the squid on board .

Too bad they don't take the foodstuff preparations in China as seriously for the products that they export .

Ah, well! It's an Olympic year anyway . . then it's back to the same old waste and rape of the land .

BTW: I hear that the Olympics are gonna fizzle . . . financially for China and any country that invested $$ for their own venues . Hotels are running at about 40% occupancy . . when they thought they'd be overbooked by now . It doesn't look like it's gonna get any better with the oil and transportation fees going higher each day .

683077 2008-06-28 00:46:00 Great idea for those of us who have no area to plant a garden. Wonder how you would cope in NZ with the slope on the roof?

I quite like the idea.

Sounds as though you have a head for heights. My SWMBO has a nosebleed on the first rung of the ladder! :groan:

I have not yet noticed sheep slip off. But there again I was born in Wellington where we all have one leg shorter than the other.

Comes from walking around the side of hills whilst trying to remain upright.
