682758 2008-06-26 23:24:00 Nandor's farewell speech in parliament, imho, is superb. Generally I have not had a high regard for Nandor but what he says in his speech is from the heart and so true. Video here - well worth a watch:

For those on dial up, here are a few excerpts:

"I came to Parliament thinking you're all a bunch of bastards," he told his colleagues. "And I was wrong. There are many good people here. The very notion that all politicians are dishonest is misconceived."

"The danger is the system changes us as much as we change the system, if not more. And that's why I'm leaving. The problem isn't how many people enter this place with honest intentions, but how many leave with them intact."

Mr Tanczos revealed he had avoided question time whenever he could.
"It's a time when I'm most ashamed of being a member of Parliament," he said.
"You all know what I'm talking about."
That was a reference to the abusive shouting and bad behaviour that go on during question time.
"We should grow up," he said.
"This is our national legislature. We should treat it and the positions we hold with more respect."

682759 2008-06-26 23:26:00 Yes, the man with a dead octopus on his head has has his time in parliament.

Yes Nandor has gone. I didn't always agree with most of what he said, but I respect him for his pleasant manner when dealing with his detractors. He was also quite genuine in his beliefs on greenie matters. One of the characters of the place.

First job Nandor, now that you have time - Get a No.1 haircut!!

Ken :thanks

682760 2008-06-26 23:55:00 He is just one of the many undesirables in Govt.

Helen and her bunch of Dyke's could take a walk too and not be missed, Anderton, Peters and my list goes on and on I suppose.

682766 2008-06-27 05:16:00 Tough crowd today, so you want Gerry Brownlee and John Key, heaven help us all, and there's no chance of that. (heaven helping us I mean).

I just shook Gerry Brownlee's hand today at a presentation, he is smaller than he looks on tv, big hand though.

682767 2008-06-27 05:25:00 I wonder if our weedy friend hung around long enough to get the full pension - more than the average wage? - after 9 years of casual work. What a rip-off. Scouse (83)
