2009-09-22 08:39:00 | AND... clean the registry, defragment with a program other than the one installed under system tools, turn off startup programs and running processors/programs you don't need =D | Chris09 (15218) | |
2009-09-22 08:44:00 | 38 gig free Excellent. AND... clean the registry, defragment with a program other than the one installed under system tools, turn off startup programs and running processors/programs you don't need =D Those two won't actually make the computer noticeabley faster. It does help to clean out crap, but many people expect that a registry cleaner or a defragmenter will "speed" things out. Which is why people are stupid enough to download programs like regcure etc... Also, FYI when it comes to defragging, the one built into Windows does the same defragging as a third party program, its just a bit slower... The other two have already been done...:p Blam

Cricky, you've got to be kidding me right? You've never done a performance test? You fix the registry, and compact it, less work for the PC finding and running all your programies and co. Defrag keeps your info together, more organized and more accessible. It makes a hell of a difference! You fix 800 registry errors, and defrag your PC which is fragmented at 48%, you will notice the difference. Deep Optimize it with Smart Defrag, and away you go. Way faster, and far more effective. Yeah. I'm a nerd. I've done my tests to prove otherwise. Give this a go, but I suppose you will still agrue the point. Never the less, your loss buddy! =D PassMark Performance Test (www.passmark.com) |

2009-09-22 20:15:00 | I dont think anyone cares about performance tests. Just as long as the thing goes. Glary utils will do the same thing (reg scan, and registry defrag). And use something like defraggler to defrag the hdd | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2009-09-22 20:21:00 | You've never done a performance test? You fix the registry, and compact it, less work for the PC finding and running all your programies and co . Defrag keeps your info together, more organized and more accessible . I have . ALl of it helps to a point . Eventually though, with NTFS O/Ss, a fresh install is the only thing that helps . Now - YOU do a test . get an incredibly slow, bogged down absolute pig of a PC - I don't mean a bit slow - then do your little clean ups . See what happens . Then do a fresh install and compare .
