812440 2009-09-21 10:14:00 Is there a simple method to test ram in isolation from a PC? My mother gave me her motherboard/ram/CPU, as hers was replaced due to being told it was faulty (Don't know/forgotten specifics of fault). My home PC is 184 pin, where this one is 240 pin (I think), so can't easily test in my PC.

I'm not the one for PC hardware, but specs are: ASUS P5LD2-VM MBoard, and ram is DDR2533512MB-RVM641. The CPU (I think it's that) is clamped with a lever/lid, and easily lifts out...Might sell dirt cheap on TM but rather give away if anyone keen...otherwise will end up with the kid's toys...

OK - There is tiny print embedded on the CPU; says Intel Pentium

005HZ/2M/800/0(or D)4A Had to use a magnifying glass/torch, and my room light is a bit weak. I think the above read as 0 (with a diagonal line through the 0). There are other numbers (serials?) and Costa Rica.

From what you wrote....it's something MHz, 2MB L2 cache, 800MHz FSB.....I think it's at least a 2.8GHz Pentium 4....probably 3GHz.

812445 2009-09-21 11:04:00 Actually there is a 3, a few spaces before the 005HZ (if it's a 5 or G for GHZ)...
so reads as 3. 00(5 or G)HZ. As I say, it's faulty somehow. 13 month grand daughter wants to attack it when she visits, but can have free (only courier). Maybe PM me?
