A friend's one had (she thinks) McAfee, which expired recently.

:D

Bob Dylan must've got some malware on his Kubuntu box when he wrote 'The Times They Are A-changin'

It's actually mostly for spam, but I figure there's no harm in having a full A/V app.

812159 2009-09-20 21:55:00 Looks like AVG make a version for linux, and Clam AV do. Altho neither will fix spam Speedy Gonzales (78)

812161 2009-09-20 22:00:00 There are AV,s included in available apps for most linux systems although they are not really needed.Guarddog is the usual Ubuntu one. kjaada (253)
812162 2009-09-21 02:53:00 There are many A/V products for Linux, but they all scan for Windows viruses (so unless you're scanning stuff for later use in Windows, or you're using it on a mail gateway, there's no real point in having them).

If you're talking about rootkits that's a different story - rkhunter is the usual tool for detecting and removing these, but unless you're running publicly accessable servers it's unlikely you'll need it. Edit: chrootkit is another useful one.

812164 2009-09-21 21:35:00 Ah yes, but again, how many Linux Distro's ship with Outlook Express (Therefore needing to scan it), winmail.dat etc :D Chilling_Silence (9)
812165 2009-09-22 05:22:00 I used avast, not sure if it actually did anything but i think linux is pretty good for viruses anyway hueybot3000 (3646)
